Avoice announces the passing of former Representative Major Owens ( NY) Congressman Owens was an advocate for working class families and fought relentlessly to eliminate economic disparities in his community . Also known by his colleagues as ‘ Rapping Rep’ because of his ability to write political rap songs , he was most recognized for his work in empowering the less fortunate . Legislatively , he aided in the passage of the Americans with Disability Act. A strong contender in the United States House of Representatives for over 20 years, we salute this champion of the people and we are grateful for his many contributions.
