African American Congresswomen have played a major role in a broad range of domestic and international issues, including civil rights, voting rights, education, healthcare, homeland security, and financial services. In commemoration of Women’s History Month in 2007, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Avoice Virtual Library launched this exhibit to highlight the leadership and important work of African American women in Congress.
