Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock was elected to the U.S. Senate, representing Georgia, in the 117th Congress (January 20, 2021-Present). He is the first Black Senator from Georgia. Warnock serves on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; the Committee on Finance; and the Special Committee on Aging. Warnock’s efforts in Congress include working to end gun violence, cap insulin costs, and close health disparities as well as advocating for famers and rural communities, and protecting the right to vote. Since 2005, Warnock has served as Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, the former pulpit of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is the youngest pastor selected to serve in that leadership role at the historic church. Warnock is a graduate of Morehouse College and earned a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary.
