Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett has served as the delegate from the Virgin Islands’ at-large Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2015 (114th Congress-Present). Plaskett serves on the Ways and Means Committee and was the first member from a U.S. territory and the fourth African American woman to join the committee. She also is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where she serves as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on National Intelligence Enterprise and as a member of the Subcommittee on Defense Intelligence and Overhead Architecture. Plaskett has a long history of public service. She began her career as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx DA’s office. Plaskett worked as a political appointee at the Department of Justice, where she served as senior counsel under Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson and his successor, James Comey. In the Virgin Islands, she has served as general counsel for the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority, and in private practice as counsel and transactional attorney for numerous companies. Plaskett earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and her Juris Doctorate from American University’s Washington College of Law.
