Opening Doors to Housing: CBC and the Development of U.S. Fair Housing Policy
What: This session will focus on the role of the Congressional Black Caucus and other African Americans in Congress in the debate and formation of U.S. fair housing policies. From the Fair Housing Act of 1969 to current debates over the Housing Fairness Act of 2013, African American members of Congress have played an important role in strengthening housing protections. Join a panel of experts, policy makers and Congress members to discuss the history and future of this important issue.

2013 CBCF Avoice Student Workshop
What: High school students and their teachers will explore the legislative contributions of African Americans in Congress through an interactive workshop at the National Archives and Records and Administration in Washington, DC. The workshop will feature activities from the CBCF Avoice Virtual Libraries For Educators Section available online at www.avoiceonline.org as well as a tour of the National Archives and complimentary lunch. Open to 30 public and private school students grades 8-12 from all districts. Students must be accompanies by a teacher.
