Public Advocacy
Since July 1971, the CBC has sponsored national conferences on such topics as black health, the communications industry, the media, black employment, education, national priorities, and black politics. Likewise, they have held countless public hearings on such issues as racism in the military, foreign policy, and health care. Each September the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation hosts its “Legislative Weekend” in cooperation with Congressional Black Caucus members. The annual Legislative Conference includes Braintrusts, workshops and issues forums chaired by CBC members. The objective of these events is to educate constituents and to provide a forum for discussion of pertinent issues.
